As with the Business Course in Traditional & Modern Upholstery, before embarking on the course you are required to book a taster day giving you the opportunity to meet fellow students already studying one of the courses and ensure MODE's style of teaching is a good fit for
you.
Your course will also include the following elements:
Theory
Health & Safety in the workplace
UK's furniture & Furnishings (Fire)(Safety) Regulations 1988 relating to domestic furniture and furnishings
Martindale abrasion test.
Correct use of tools and equipment, hand & mechanical tools
Upholstery Fillings & Materials
Cutting Plans & Pattern Matching
Understanding frame repairs
Student Portfolio
For the duration of the course each student is required to compile a record of their practical and theory work to include:
Health & Safety awareness
Description of processes
Sketches & or photographs of processes
Materials used for each process and suitability
Tools used for each process and suitability
Basic design, cutting plans and fabric calculations
Tools are provided along with protective equipment, if you prefer to use your own tools feel free to bring them with you.
Upholstery supplies are charged for on an as used basis.
There's secure parking at MODE and the training room is on the ground floor.
